The identity of Satoshi Nakamoto, the inventor of Bitcoin has been discussed for years, but no one has ever learned who s/he is.

The most reasonable likelihood is that Satoshi Nakamoto is the nickname of a person or a group. Up to now, endless claims have been made. Conspiracy theorists have even said that there is a “password” called Satoshi Nakamoto. The most “sensational” claim is that this name was derived from the company names “Samsung, Toshiba, Nakamichi, Motorola”. According to this theory, “Sa- Toshi Naka-Moto” comes from the combination of these company names. Of course, this has remained as a claim and has never been proven.
Expectedly, claims have never come to an end…
The claim of Adam Back
Some people were claimed to be the real Satoshi Nakamoto. The last claim was that Adam Back, the General Manager of Blockstream is Nakamoto.
- This claim was shared on a video on Reddit. The claim was based on the e-mail correspondence between Adam Back and Satoshi Nakamoto at the time when Bitcoin emerged. Thus, it was said that Back is Nakamoto, but he wants to hide himself.
- Adam Back refuted this claim and said “Despite the claim in the last video uploaded on Reddit, I am not Satoshi. Some factors and timing might look suspicious, but these are just a coincidence.”
This was not the first claim about Satoshi Nakamoto’s claim. Nor would it be the last.
McAfee: I know who Satoshi is.
In early May, John McAfee was among those who asserted that they know who Satoshi Nakamoto is.
- McAfee has said he has spoken with Nakamoto on the phone and alleged that Bitcoin works with a team of eleven people.
- “But anybody who wants to know who it is — I mean, you know who the options are, you’ve got Craig Wright possibly. I’m not going to name everyone else otherwise you’ll figure out who it is, but somebody wrote the whitepaper” said McAfee.
McAfee listed his detections about the writing style in white paper.
- “If you read the whitepaper, number one, it’s totally clear he’s English — every single word that has a different spelling in English and American is English.”
- “Number two….everything has two spaces after a period.” “There is only five percent of the population that has two spaces after a period.”
- “If you buy a two-hundred dollar authorship program, and you take the white paper and you run it through, and you take any one of the papers that he’s published… only one comes out with ninety-nine percent probability it’s him.”
McAfee has said that if the person in his mind proves to be the real Satoshi, this will unravel many things. He has added he does not want to share any name in case he puts this person in danger if he is wrong.
Craig Wright claims himself to be Satoshi and his “evidence”
These words are ambiguous, but any time the question “Who is the creator of Bitcoin?” is asked, an Australian entrepreneur, the name Craig Wright, whom McAfee refers to in his speech, is always pronounced. In fact, Wright has become a topic on the agenda due to his statements like “I am the real Satoshi.”
Wright said that he was Satoshi for a long time and took some initiatives to prove that, but he has failed to convince people of who he said he was. It has been said that the “evidence” he had recourse to has been fiddled.
Wright’s most interesting claim was about how this name was coined.
He said that he was affected by the author of an article written in Japanese in 1967. The author of the article was called “Tominaga Nakamoto.” He added that “Satoshi means “smart learning”. This was how he claimed he had created his name. Yet, these claims have not been bought as evidence.
Amaury Sechet, Elon Musk and others
Another interesting statement came from Amaury Sechet, the founder of Bitcoin Cash. Sechet posted the following tweet: “I am Satoshi Nakamoto and I have proof”, but then he deleted it.
Elon Musk was also the target of these never-ending claims. Elon Musk responded to these claims humorously: “Well, now that Satoshi Nakamoto has been discovered, I guess it is case closed.”
These are not the only names that have been mentioned.
Harold Finney, developer of console games, was mentioned, but he denied.
So did the computer scientist, Nick Szabo.
It is obvious that those who claim to be Satoshi draw attention and become a hot topic quickly. However, the invalidity of their “proof” is understood quickly, too.
Apparently, there will always be conspiracy theories, claims and predictions. And there will always be a “Faketoshi” who says “It is me.”
The entire world wants to know the person or people who founded this technology, which is a turning point in the financial system.
It is still a mystery whether Satoshi was only a person or a group. We do not know if the truth will ever be discovered, either. But we know who Satoshi Nakamoto is not. We know how those who make sensational claims without valid proof come to stop supporting their arguments after a while.
